The Northern California Legacy Team recently completed a Geoform Injection project in Santa Clara County. The project was located inside a parking structure, so our traditional full size Injection Trailers and Direct Push equipment wasn't going to work.

We utilized a limited access Geoprobe 420M Dolly Rig to advance the Injection Tooling.

We used a small mixer with a piston pump to perform the injection. This setup allowed us to work efficiently within the space constraints while maintaining strong daily production rates.

Evonik's Geoform-ER is an advanced, clay-based slow-release electron donor designed to support long-term enhanced reductive dechlorination (ERD) to break down chlorinated solvents such as TCE and PCE.

In addition to its effective amendment properties, Geoform-ER mixes into a pumpable slurry, allowing injection through direct-push points.

The Geoform slurry mixture was injected between 25.5 to 33 ft bgs. Each direct push point received between 95 and 286 pounds of Geoform-ER at a rate of 1.1 to 6.7 gpm and pressure between 50 to 220 psi.

Additionally, each injection point was bioaugmented with DHC Microbial Culture.

This project is a great example of how thoughtful planning, equipment selection, and field expertise come together to deliver successful outcomes in the field. We’re proud of the work completed and look forward to applying the same level of effort to future projects.
