The Legacy Remediation team recently completed an in situ groundwater remediation injection program at a former dry-cleaning site in Alameda County, California, now redeveloped as a senior living community. The project utilized a combination of QRS-SL™ sodium lactate, SRS®-ZVI, and KB-1® to enhance the biological and abiotic treatment of chlorinated solvents in groundwater.

The project involved the injection of a treatment blend consisting of QRS-SL™ (sodium lactate), SRS®-ZVI (EVO + sZVI), and KB-1® microbial culture.

All reagent mixing, monitoring, and injection progress tracking were performed using one of our self-contained injection trailers.

The mix water was obtained from a nearby fire hydrant. Legacy coordinated with the local water utility company to secure access, and the utility installed a temporary water meter to support reagent mixing operations.

To maximize treatment effectiveness and support enhanced reductive dechlorination, all makeup water was conditioned in a mini-frac tank with Newman Zone® OS to establish anaerobic conditions before amendment mixing and subsurface injection.

The treatment solution was injected into six to seven wells simultaneously. Injection pressure, flow rate, and cumulative volume were continuously monitored and recorded using a multi-point injection manifold equipped with ultrasonic flow meters.

The treatment program consisted of 13 injection wells, each receiving approximately 1,300 gallons of amendment solution to facilitate distribution throughout the target treatment zone.

We are proud of our team for maintaining a clean and organized project site, minimizing impacts to the surrounding residential community, and completing the work under budget and one day ahead of schedule.
