Geoform-ER, Newman Zone EVO & KB-1 DPT Injection in Contra Costa County

Legacy Remediation successfully minimized impacts to an active service station in Contra Costa County while completing in situ remediation.

The treatment design included Newman Zone® EVO in one area of the site and a Geoform-ER® slurry in another, addressing varying site conditions and remedial objectives.

The Geoform-ER® reagent was mixed onsite as a 25% to 30% weight-to-weight slurry, allowing a high concentration of amendment to be delivered efficiently within the target treatment interval.

The direct push injection program targeted a 10- to 20-foot treatment interval across 18 injection points. Legacy performed the injections using a top-down approach, targeting four discrete 2.5-foot treatment intervals at each injection location.

Each treatment interval was also bioaugmented with KB-1® microbial culture to support the biological degradation of contaminants within the treatment zone.

Due to the distance to the nearest fire hydrant, our team was required to shuttle water to the project site using a water truck. The water was then conditioned onsite in a mini frac tank to create anaerobic mix water and flush water.

Reagents were received at Legacy's local office, where inventory was managed and daily deliveries were coordinated to support ongoing injection activities throughout the project.

A big thank you to the project team for their planning, coordination, and execution, which helped deliver another safe, efficient, and successful remediation project while minimizing impacts to active site operations.
