At a small retail center in Orange County, California, the Legacy Remediation Team completed a direct push injection project injecting a Regenesis® reagent blend consisting of S-Micro ZVI®, 3DMe®, and BDI Plus® to address groundwater contamination associated with a former dry cleaner. The treatment was designed to enhance the in situ remediation of chlorinated solvent impacts within the targeted groundwater interval while minimizing disruption to ongoing site activities.

Using a top-down injection approach, our team distributed 527 gallons of reagent mixture across 24 direct push injection points targeting the interval between 25 and 40 feet below ground surface. Treatment was completed in 5-foot intervals, helping to achieve uniform reagent distribution across the targeted treatment zone.

All reagent mixing, pumping, and injection monitoring were completed using one of Legacy Remediation's self-contained injection trailers, providing an efficient and compact platform for the field work.

S-MicroZVI® is a colloidal zero-valent iron (ZVI) suspension designed for in situ chemical reduction (ISCR). Manufactured using a sulfidation process, it offers enhanced reactivity and supports both abiotic contaminant destruction and ISCR-enhanced bioremediation.

S-MicroZVI® a quick mix prior to transferring it from the drum.

3DMe® is a slow-release amendment that provides a staged release of electron donors to support enhanced reductive dechlorination (ERD) and accelerate the breakdown of chlorinated solvents.

The 3DMe® and S-MicroZVI® were both shipped to Legacy local office, where materials were staged and delivered to the project site as needed.

BDI Plus® is a microbial consortium containing Dehalococcoides spp. (DHC), capable of completely degrading chlorinated solvents through reductive dechlorination. Once injected into the subsurface, BDI Plus® augments native microbial populations with DHC, accelerating the stepwise breakdown of contaminants such as PCE, TCE, DCE, and vinyl chloride into harmless end products, including ethene and ethane.

A big thank you to our client for the opportunity to support this remediation effort, and to our field crew for delivering another safe, efficient, and successful project.
