ZVI, WilClear Plus & KB-1 DPT & Well Injection at Santa Clara project site

Legacy Remediation recently completed a groundwater remediation project in Santa Clara County, California. The project combined direct push injection and well injection technologies to distribute remedial amendments throughout the treatment area and support enhanced groundwater remediation.

For the direct push injection portion of the project, a slurry amendment blend consisting of 40-micron zero-valent iron (ZVI) supplied by CERES Remediation, WilClear Plus™ supplied by JRW Bioremediation, and guar gum was mixed and injected using one of Legacy Remediation's custom-built, self-contained injection trailers. The direct push Injection points were also bioaugmented with KB-1® microbial culture supplied by SiREM to support enhanced anaerobic biodegradation.

A Geoprobe® 7822DT was used to advance 29 direct push injection points across the site. Remedial amendments were then injected using a top-down injection approach between 17 and 37 feet below ground surface, allowing for proper placement of the amendments within the target interval.

The well injection portion of the project was performed using 41 injection wells and groundwater recirculation with in-line amendment dosing. Groundwater was extracted from existing extraction wells, and WilClear Plus™ was metered into the recirculation stream using a proportional dosing pump before being injected into the treatment wells. The injection wells were also bioaugmented with KB-1® microbial culture supplied by SiREM to support enhanced anaerobic biodegradation.

A mechanical packer was installed within the 4-inch injection wells to create a positive seal during injection activities.
We are proud of our team's safe and efficient execution of this work and appreciate the opportunity to support our client's remediation objectives.
