The Legacy Northern California Team recently completed a successful direct‑push injection project at an active industrial dry‑cleaning facility in San Mateo County. This injection event targeted chlorinated‑solvent‑impacted groundwater and promoted enhanced anaerobic biodegradation to accelerate contaminant breakdown.

As usual, the first step was hand‑clearing the upper 5 feet using a hand auger.

The direct-push tooling was advanced using a track-mounted Geoprobe 6011DT.

We utilized a 1.5‑inch by 5‑foot injection tool and injected top‑down, targeting two 5‑foot treatment intervals between 15 and 25 feet bgs.

The operators had to ‘thread the needle’ with the Geoprobe to avoid overhead obstructions inside the facility.”

SRS‑SD, a small‑droplet emulsified vegetable oil (EVO) substrate, it was provided by Terra Systems in IBC totes.

A small amount of sodium bicarbonate was also added to the mixture to help maintain proper pH buffering.

Additionally, each injection point and each 5‑foot treatment interval was bioaugmented with a Dehalococcoides (DHC) microbial culture to support reductive dechlorination.

All reagent mixing and pumping were performed using one of our self‑contained injection trailers.

The team maintained target flow rates of 3–7 gallons per minute per point while operating within a pressure range of 25–70 psi.

Strong planning, precise execution, and a firm commitment to safety allowed our team to complete the field event seamlessly. We’re proud of the expertise and dedication our crew brings to every project, delivering reliable results our clients can count on.
